What do the boarding fees cover?
Windsor Stables is a full-service boarding barn. The horses receive one morning and one evening hay/grain feed, and one lunch hay feed. Additional hay at night check is available on request. Each horse is fed hay and grain to owner specifications based on the horse’s age, work load, and size. In addition to attached outdoor paddocks on each stall, each horse is scheduled for turnout in the individual sand paddocks several times a week. Stalls are cleaned daily before noon, and turnout paddocks are mucked between each rotation of horses. Horse blanketing is available in the winter for a small additional fee.

What type of hay and grain is available?
We provide a variety of feeds which are formulated for our horses’ needs in BC. Feeding requirements are individually tailored for each horse. Our hay is grown locally and is a quality second cut. Special diets verified with a letter from your veterinarian will be accommodated when possible.

Will you add supplements to my horse’s feed if I provide them?
Yes, as long as they are pre-measured and stored in pest-proof containers on the stall door.

What bedding do you use?
We use a sawdust shavings blend on top of rubber-matted cement floors. Barn aisles are also rubber-matted for safety.

Can my friends or family come to the barn with me?
Of course! Friends and family are welcome to accompany riders to watch lessons or meet your horse. We only ask that visitors are respectful of other boarders, riders, and horses. This means maintaining adequate safety protocol by wearing close-toed shoes, avoiding running or making loud noises, and not petting or feeding other horses without owner permission.

Can my friend from another barn come ride with me at Windsor?
Only horses boarded at Windsor Stables are permitted use of our arenas. This is to ensure fairness for the owners and boarders who pay monthly strata fees that contribute to maintenance of the arenas and their footing.

Is Windsor an adult-only barn?
No! We welcome riders of all ages and riding abilities.

Are dogs allowed at the barn?
Dogs are only permitted in common areas (driveway and courtyard) when supervised and on leash. We do not allow dogs in any of the barn aisles, tack rooms, stalls, paddocks, or arenas. This is to ensure horse and rider safety. We also ask that you pick up after your dog; there are brown bags provided in Barn 1 for waste collection and disposal.

What are the barn hours?
The barn is open from 6 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The riding rings are equipped with individually operated timed lights to accommodate riding in the early morning and evening.
