LOCAL RIDING ORGANISATIONS
Southlands Riding Club: Neighbourhood riding facility with indoor and outdoor arenas for all disciplines, indoor and outdoor lunging rings, a half-mile track, cross-country course, and barn lounge. Hosts regular community events and regional horse shows.
Southlands Drill Team: A group of casual riders who practice mounted drill riding (think marching band or synchronised swimming — but with horses!). Run by part-time local trainer Claudia Zurmuhle and her students, drill team is a great way for horses and riders to challenge themselves with new riding techniques, build community for humans and horses, and have fun.
Southlands Trail Riders: A local group of riders who organise casual trail rides along the Fraser River and through Pacific Spirit Regional Park. A great resource for anyone new to the neighbourhood who would like to safely explore our fabulous network of trails.
Pony Club, British Columbia Lower Mainland Region: Canadian Pony Club is a member-based organisation supporting youth aged 6-25 in learning about taking care of and working with horses and ponies. They have a number of regional branches across Canada, and Vancouver is serviced by the BC Lower Mainland branch.
